Porlock Vale House

About a lane-mile west of Porlock, a magnificent house dating from the 19th cent, hugely enlarged by generations of the wealthy as a hunting lodge. Exquisitely positioned with a superb wooded backdrop looking out over the sea as the coast circles gently round to the small picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir.

The house is absolutely incredible. The rooms are all a great size. The views of the garden and sea are incredible. We had a 50th birthday with 30 of us and the house was a perfect size to allow people to have space over the weekend and then to enjoy an intimate fabulous party together. The fact that each of the rooms has an en suite bathroom was the icing on the cake for everyone. we really could not fault it and cannot wait to come back again.. Thank you for making it so special.

Whitehead party, February 2020

Fantastic accommodation, close to the beach and surrounding areas. The house has pretty much everything you could need for your break away. Myself and friends have stayed in a few of the bigger houses around over the last few years, and this was by far the best

Hudson, September 2019

Excellent place for a large group of people. Former hotel so all rooms en suite. Two good sized lounges plus a games lounge. Small bar-room. Well equipped kitchen plus large dining room which can seat at least 25 people. Good patio with good views. Plenty of car parking space. Handy pubs about 10 minutes walk away or short drive. Nearby Porlock has range of shops, pubs and cafes. Some outstanding walking over Exmoor or the SW Coast Path.

Buck, June 2019

For a group like ours the facilities and location are lovely. As this is our second holiday I think that speaks for itself.

Ward party, June 2019

If anything, this was undermarketed. The pictures did not do it justice. The wonderful views. Great location. Friendly staff who checked we had everything we needed.

Larkman party, May 2019

We had the most wonderful weekend at this beautiful property. Thank you

Peart party, February 2019

“We had a lovely holiday thank you. The house is the absolute perfect location for a Christmas break; full of atmosphere, cosy, but big enough for a large party to not be on top of each other all of the time. The kitchen was fully equipped and easily facilitated all of our catering needs. All of the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The bar was an absolute highlight. Would definitely come back again.”

Stringer Party , Christmas 2018

We loved the peaceful atmosphere of the place and the proximity of both sea and forest. We loved that all the room were equipped with an en-suite bathroom. We felt very supported by the Porlock Vale House team. We are looking forward to coming back.

Charlton family, August 2018

We had an amazing time at Porlock Vale House. We were a party of 20 for a family reunion and the house worked out perfectly for us, especially every room having its own en suite, the kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfortable and the views from the house were absolutely incredible. The children in our party especially enjoyed seeing the horses and cows in the adjoining fields and being able to run around and play in the extensive grounds. The owner and his staff were extremely helpful in suggesting things to do and especially recommending a caterer for our special celebration.

O'Leary, July 2018

The kitchen was really well equipped, the barbecue area great, the bar area is fabulous but maybe could do with a larger fridge. All the rooms were well appointed and spacious and scrupulously clean. Great playroom for the kids. Wifi worked well even with 18 of us! We all really loved the place and hope to be back sometime.

Porlock weir though tiny is worth a visit as is dunster and mine head. We all enjoyed our visit and intend to return next year

Brown, April 2018

Mandy the housekeeper was a little gem - The property was perfect for our family of 23, the facilities were superb, the kitchen was amazing and the hall was wonderful for sitting together. The effort made with the Christmas Tree and decorations was greatly appreciated. Logs for the fire were plentiful and the house was lovely and warm. The BEST family Christmas ever.

Warner Family, December 2017

Porlock Vale House definitely has the wow factor! A beautiful setting, very comfortable accommodation and lovely en-suite bedrooms with very comfortable beds. Luxurious without being over formal, making us feel very much at home. The kitchen was perfect for coping with our large family reunion and was really well equipped. The garden and variety of rooms were perfect for all age groups - from the babies to the grandparents and we could all find our space. The bar was perfect at night for our live music and gave a lovely \'pub\' feel. I think we would all happily return - a great holiday venue!

Wood, August 2017

A Superb House for a large group, plenty of space and a stunning peaceful view that you never get tired of! Very helpful owners. So good that all rooms are ensuite. Also great that there's space to seat everyone for meals and the games room and gardens are perfect for kids to run around. Walking down to the beach for a beautiful sunset was memorable evening.
