West Somerset Railway, a true country branch line of the old Great Western Railway is full of fascination whether you are looking for a nostalgic ride back in time through lovely countryside or to study the railway and industrial heritage which our line preserves.
The historic steam locomotives, coaches and wagons, and the buildings of our ten unique stations linked by a twenty mile scenic journey will repay hours of exploration. The surrounding countryside is as varied as it is beautiful.
The gently rolling Quantock hills and distant Exmoor, unspoilt villages and farms nestling in leafy lanes, the cliffs and coast of the Bristol Channel with views of distant South-Wales, confident Church Towers, Dunster's imposing Castle and Minehead's seaside charm are all waiting to be discovered.

A comfortable, spacious 2 bedroom (each with ensuite shower room), ground-floor apartment, within the west wing of a beautiful Edwardian hunting lodge - Porlock Vale House, with gorgeous views to the sea across its enclosed garden (patio and BBQ). Garden View's conservatory is perfect for relaxing at the end of a long day on the Moor. Please note, Wifi is available but due to the remote location, it cannot be relied on for work/streaming purposes. Cot and/or Highchair is available on request. Vale View Apartment is a two-bedroom first floor holiday apartment near Porlock Weir on the West Somerset coast. It sleeps 4 people and has a wonderful open plan kitchen /reception area with views to the sea. Outside is a balcony with views over the garden , the perfect spot for a pre-dinner drink. The property is child and dog friendly but there are stairs leading up to the apartment. Cot and/or highchair is available on request. Wifi is available, but due to the remote location, it cannot be guaranteed for work purposes / streaming.
